DAMO SUZUKI & JELLY PLANET – Damo Suzuki & Jelly Planet 2018 (2LP/CD Purple Pyramid Records)

I believe that there’s no need for Mr. Damo’s recommendations, right? Starting back in the late 60s and still standing in “his” late 60s (aged 68)! On his own, with his “Network” or with his “Band” he is still active, performing, recording, releasing… For his latest adventure (though it is recorded back in 2005) Damo is collaborating with German experimentalists Jelly Planet. It’s a double LP or a single CD release, through Purple Pyramid Records, a division of Cleopatra Records (from Los Angeles, California) which contains just two tracks. Both titles were instantly composed and recorded Live in The Studio by Damo Suzuki (vocals) with Jelly Planet, which are: Felix A. Gutierrez (bass), Stephan Hendricks (keys), Jens Kuchenthal (drums), Alexander Schonert (guitar). Track 1 is entitled “Wildschweinbraten” (27:59) and track 2 “Venushügel” (34:51). A totally improvised spontaneous electronic studio explorative experiment with lots “musical elements” depending on the moment’s mood of each musician. Late 70s Kraut, screaming shimmering guitars, numerous effects and above all, Mr. Damo’s raving delirium vocals performance! Sharp, krauty, Authentic with a theatrical tint at times. He still amazes us after all these years! An incredible mind-blowing trippy experiment for all “initiated” out there, and only for them! Them Mushroom-Heads! Hey you! I’m losing my Vitamin C! (TLM)
