Straight from the sweat-soaked underbelly of Barcelona’s rock’n’roll scene, Les Rencards return with a brand-new 7-inch single, “Boite À Malice” (Rogue Records, 2025). Rogue’s press release states:

“Rooted in the primal sounds of garage rock and punk legends like The Sonics, The Stooges, and The Ramones, Les Rencards push the genre into fresh territory—fusing classic grit with a bold, modern edge. Side A, “Boîte À Malice”, is a resurrected gem with a story — originally recorded by drummer Ian Kay and his late father Noël Kay, now reborn through the Rencards’ fuzz-drenched filter. With its crisp, upbeat rhythm, swirling mid-’60s vibes, and yé-yé swagger, it’s pure Dutronc worship done right. Add the fiery femme vocals, and you’ve got a full-on dancefloor weapon that shimmies and snarls in equal measure. Flip it, and “Pas De Cœur” explodes with no mercy, a stomping garage-punk rave-up packed with Farfisa stabs, razor-sharp fuzz, and handclaps that hit like switchblades. Clocking in at just over two and a half minutes, it’s a go-go inferno tailor-made for sweaty basement gigs and spilled drinks. Another Rencards floor-filler with zero filler. So, two sides, no skips!
