Emerging from Bremen, Germany, Liquid Orbit is a five-piece band that have quietly built a strong reputation among underground psych devotees through a sound where heavy space-rock riffing, hypnotic improvisations and vintage progressive textures collide in pure spontaneous energy. Their latest voyage, “More Spontaneous Floating Rock Creations”, released in 2025 (April) through Clostridium Records, finds the band continuing this fascinating journey deeper into the unknown.
Since their debut “Liquid Orbit” (2017), followed by “Game Of Promises” (2019) and “Spontaneous Floating Rock Creations” (2023), the band has steadily refined its identity, embracing the free spirit of the psychedelic underground while channeling the adventurous essence of classic space rock. Built around the talents of Anders Becker (organs, synths, mellotron), Steve Wittig (drums), Sylvia Köpke (vocals, recorder), Ralf Höpken (bass) and Andree Kubillus (guitar), Liquid Orbit thrive on powerful improvisation and dynamic interplay between soaring guitars, cosmic keyboards and pulsating rhythms.
“More Spontaneous Floating Rock Creations” contains 4 tracks on the first side and one side-long on the second side of the vinyl LP album. It opens with “Have You Ever Heard?”, an explosive introduction that quickly settles into a heavy groove-driven psychedelic jam, where pulsating bass, steady drumming and dominant organ passages build a hypnotic, deeply spacey atmosphere full of spontaneous improvisation. “Non-Gravity Hop With No Shoes On” follows with a shorter but highly energetic excursion, driven by shimmering electric guitar work and an irresistible rhythmic backbone, functioning as a vibrant burst of pure psychedelic momentum. “Partir Dans L’Espace” pushes the band even deeper into classic Space Rock territory, combining dreamy keyboard textures, fluid improvisation and a beautifully weightless atmosphere that recalls late-70s progressive psychedelia. With “A Million Dreams Are Keeping Me Awake”, the cosmic journey becomes even richer as Sylvia Köpke’s expressive vocals blend perfectly with the slow-burning psychedelic progression, while swirling Hammond passages guide the composition through a wonderfully immersive trip-a-delic landscape. The album reaches its absolute peak with the twenty-minute closer “While Sylvia Is Repairing The Launch Vehicle Adaptor”, a fearless and highly adventurous sonic voyage that begins with futuristic experimental textures before gradually unfolding into a massive lysergic exploration filled with bluesy guitar passages, hypnotic organ improvisations, shifting moods and deeply mind-bending atmospheres, perfectly capturing the spontaneous and uncompromising spirit of true underground psych rock…
With “More Spontaneous Floating Rock Creations”, Liquid Orbit once again confirm their place among the most fascinating contemporary explorers of underground psychedelic space rock. Rooted in improvisation, driven by pure musical chemistry and filled with vintage cosmic energy, this is an album for listeners who still seek adventurous music beyond formula and predictability, this is yet another impressive trip worth taking… TimeLord Michalis
