Emerging from Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Clâm blends heavy psych, ambient textures, fuzz-driven rock, spacey atmospherics and subtle kraut-inspired momentum into a sound that feels deeply rooted in tradition while constantly pushing forward. Their self-titled debut “Clâm”, released in March (2026) through Clostridium Records, immediately announces the arrival of a band with a remarkably distinct artistic identity.
Formed around an international lineup consisting of Michelle Blythe (vocals, USA), Sven Hollmann (guitar, Germany), Eddie Blythe (bass, UK) and Björn Giebler (drums, Germany), the quartet crafts expansive sonic landscapes where hypnotic repetition, meditative guitar work, tight rhythmic interplay and evocative vocals merge into something immersive, organic and wonderfully unpredictable. Drawing inspiration from heavy psych, space rock, ambient experimentation and even subtle touches of disco groove, Clâm avoid simple retro worship, instead building a modern psychedelic language entirely their own.
“Clâm” contains 6 songs, 3 on each side of the vinyl LP album. “Clâm” opens with “Levee Lament”, a hypnotic yet remarkably heavy composition built around expressive guitar work, where bluesy undertones collide beautifully with atmospheric psychedelic textures, while Michelle Blythe’s distinctive vocal presence adds both warmth and emotional intensity to the track’s slow-burning progression. “Outside” immediately shifts the mood, unfolding over a smooth motorik pulse that allows the band to explore a wonderfully immersive shoegaze-infused psychedelic landscape, balancing fuzzy late-90s alternative rock energy with beautifully restrained vocal melodies. On “Here And Now”, the quartet dives deeper into heavier territory, combining shimmering fuzz-drenched guitar passages with slow, heady vocals and a hypnotic post-rock structure that feels deeply rooted in the adventurous spirit of 90s alternative Rock. “Home” carries a more intimate emotional weight, with Michelle delivering one of her strongest performances while the band seamlessly blends blues, space rock textures and post-rock dynamics into a beautifully layered composition full of tension and atmosphere. The shorter “Borrowed” introduces a more rhythmic approach, where subtle Krautrock motion, hazy Americana undertones and a clear shoegaze sensibility come together to create an introspective mid-tempo detour. Closing the album, “Lovely Time” feels like the perfect culmination of everything Clâm represent musically, a stunning collision of fuzzy 90s-inspired post-rock, dreamy shoegaze textures and powerful songwriting, elevated by an outstanding vocal performance and the band’s already unmistakable guitar sound, easily standing out as one of the album’s finest moments.
With their self-titled debut, Clâm immediately establish themselves as one of the most intriguing new names within today’s European underground. Blending heavy psych, shoegaze, post-rock and Kraut-inspired atmospherics with remarkable confidence, the band delivers a deeply immersive album. An impressive first statement from a group clearly worth keeping a close eye on… TimeLord Michalis
