There are records that are simply rediscovered, and there are others that feel like forgotten messages finally returning from another era. Gazuama Sinchartchas belong to the rare second category. Emerging in Greece during the early 1970s, at a time when experimental music was breaking free from conventional boundaries, the band created a deeply personal sound where the cosmic explorations of Krautrock and the psychedelic movements of the era met with elements of Greek traditional music and a fearless spirit of experimentation. Their music was strange, challenging, and completely unique – an underground vision far ahead of its time.

Before their dissolution, Gazuama Sinchartchas left behind only one official recording: the legendary 7-inch single  “Ανύψωση-Αποτίναξη-Εκφυγή” (“Anypsosis-Apotinaxi-Ekfyghi”) from 1972, a mysterious and ambitious work that has since become a hidden gem among collectors of obscure Greek Psychedelia. More than five decades later, B-Otherside Records brings this lost treasure back to life through a carefully prepared 12″ Maxi Single edition (2026), expanded with rare archival material, photographs, and a detailed biography of the band.

This special reissue presents the original two-part composition in its 1972 form on Side A, while Side B offers a fascinating alternative perspective from the original master reel, including additional audio material, a different sequencing of the parts, and a newly restored vocal mix made possible through modern technology. Limited to 350 numbered copies, this release is not merely a reissue—it is an archaeological journey into one of the most enigmatic chapters of Greek underground Psychedelia, revealing a band that, although short-lived, created a sound universe entirely their own.

The title “Anypsosis-Apotinaxi-Ekfyghi” translates as “Lifting-Shake-Off-Evacuation”, and this mysterious sonic journey truly feels like a liberation from the musical boundaries of its era. Looking back through the history of music, it becomes clear that Greek musicians were often far ahead of their time, and Gazuama Sinchartchas are perhaps one of the most fascinating examples. Emerging in the early ’70s, during one of the darkest political periods in Greece (dictatorship), this short-lived band managed to create a sound that was astonishingly close to the experimental spirit of Krautrock—a remarkable achievement considering the circumstances surrounding their existence.

Their music is a strange and beautiful collision of electric guitars, bass, flute, drums, and heavily psychedelic, almost punk-like Greek vocals, creating an atmosphere that feels as if we have entered a late ’60s German commune somewhere between Berlin and Munich. The hypnotic, primitive, and free-form energy immediately recalls the earliest explorations of bands like Amon Düül I & II, where improvisation, collective expression, and altered states of consciousness became the foundation of the music. Yet hearing such a sound coming from a Greek band of that period is genuinely breathtaking.

Of course, fans of Krautrock are familiar with these cosmic landscapes through artists like Amon Düül, Ash Ra Tempel, Guru Guru, Mammut, Sperrmull, and many others, but Gazuama Sinchartchas prove that this experimental language was not limited by geography. The Greek lyrics become simply another instrument within this psychedelic ritual – just as listeners around the world have embraced countless German underground classics without understanding every word (even Germans can’t understand a word in Kalacakra’s “Naerby Shiras”), hehe… This is not just a historical curiosity; it is a powerful and unique document of a band that dared to look beyond borders and create something truly visionary.
