Lorenzo (Uffe Lorenzen if you prefer) is back with his power ROCK trio – LYDSYN – releasing their 2nd LP album “Højspændt” since their self-titled debut in 2022 (check my review here), naturally through Lars’ Bad Afro Records. Here’s some info from the press release:

“Lydsyn – Højspændt

When Baby Woodrose went on a hiatus in 2016 frontman and songwriter Lorenzo Woodrose changed his name into his real name Uffe Lorenzen. He also changed into his native language Danish and released three solo albums from 2017 to 2021. After that he formed a new power trio with his old friends Palle Demant on bass and Jens Eyde on drums. The new band was called Lydsyn and they released their self-titled debut album in 2022.

Now it is 2024 and the band is ready to release their second album called “Højspændt” (could be translated to high tension) and it is surely a fitting title. Everything is turned up to the max and the album was recorded at the famous Sweet Silence studio in Copenhagen by the legendary producer Flemming Rasmussen who’s biggest claim to fame is his work on the “Ride The Lightning” and “Master Of Puppets” albums by Metallica.

Lydsyn is dedicated to the analogue listening experience. No backing tracks, auto-tune or pro-tools and “all that shit” as the band would express it. The songs on “Højspændt” are even tougher than the ones on the debut album and the hard rock aspect has been turned up while the psychedelic side has been turned down. Beneath all the rumble the songs also have a catchy side that will stick to your brain after only a few plays.

“Højspændt” will be released on vinyl and digital platforms October 25th. “Musik Er Nummer 1” will be released as the first digital single September 6th accompanied by a live video recorded at two sold out shows at Loppen in Copenhagen in April this year”…

“Højspændt” contains 10 songs, 5 on each side of the LP album. The album kicks off with my personal favorite, “Musik Er Nummer 1”, powerful, full of energy, indie-garage-y Rock (may I call it Danish Rock?) with a groovy melody and an intense rhythm and beat that strongly brings to mind the 1988 track “Doctoring The Tardis” by a side project of The KLF, The Timelords! “Opråb” is a more Hard Rock-oriented track while “Hejremanden” is an even more Hard Rock song! “UFO” can be described as a Hard Rock Ballad while side ‘A’ closes with “Nørrebro”, a cover version of a 1978 track by Tommy “Bas” Pedersen taken from his one and only LP album. Side ‘B’ opens with “Byens Værste Hotel”, a mid-tempo tune inspired by early 90s Heavy Rock. “Heyoka” can be described (probably) as Danish Indie Hard Rock (!?), and with “Du Vil have mere” the band sets the scene back to the Heavy Sound of FM/AOR bands of the 80s. “Den Sidste Sommer” is a dynamic balladesque song. The album ends with “Den Døde By”, heavy, and tough, with a shimmering electric guitar sound and a generally maximum overdrive loud n’ heavy Sound! So, all you enthusiasts of Heavy Rock music, “Højspændt” is out there waiting to be heard, Loud! TimeLord Michalis
