Düsseldorf’s long-time freak flag flyers and ambassadors of Modern Psychedelia – Vibravoid – return with “Remove The Ties”, and let’s just say: this one burns! In a landscape choked with algorithmic psych-pop and faux-kraut bands chasing the same Neu! loop for the hundredth time, Vibravoid remind us what this music was supposed to be: dirty, mind-bending, fearless, and deeply real. The band’s been at it for 35 years now, and instead of mellowing out or going soft-focus retro, they’ve doubled down on the trip. This isn’t pseudo psychedelia. This is genuine altered-state sonics from a group of devotees who’ve survived shoegaze, stoner rock, post-everything, and come out the other side grinning with a lava lamp in one hand and a fuzz pedal in the other. “Remove The Ties” contains 8 tracks, equally divided to the 2 sides of the LP album. The opener “Computer Dreams” is the bait-and-switch. You hear the title and expect robotic Kraftwerk worship—but nah, this is acid-synth kosmische with blood in its veins. A headfake and a headrush, all at once. From there, it’s down the spiral, and of course, yes the track closes one eye to the Kraftwerk gang… “Neustart” hits like a recharged “Mother Sky” played in a rave tunnel. Tight grooves, blown-out fuzz, filtered through some psychic strobe and shot straight into the brainstem. It’s classic Vibravoid, which is to say it doesn’t sound like anyone else. If there really is a New Düsseldorf Sound, this is its manifesto. Then there’s “The Power Of Dreams”, which could’ve been a 7” on Deram in ’68 if that label had a stash of psilocybin and a space echo. There’s this effortless balance here between pop structure and full psych disintegration—like they could’ve written radio hits but chose instead to beam them to the blacklight dimension. Side A is closing with “Follow Me Follow You”, a track that takes things deeper into the vortex. There’s something beautifully off about the way the melodies drift just outside your grasp, like you’re chasing butterflies in an opium field. This is that rare kind of psychedelia that’s actually disorienting—not just aesthetic, but affecting and this is more than obvious with the fantastic track “Your Revolution Is Dead” that opens side B… By the time “Increasing The Pain” starts rolling around, you’re not listening – you’re hallucinating. The arrangement feels less written and more channeled, it’s instinctual, brain-melting stuff. And then “A State Of Mind” – my highlight. Fuzzy and weird to death, vocals like mantras, rhythm like you’re falling forward in slow motion. A beautifully ‘Stoned’ track (not stoner, hehe)… The title track “Remove The Ties” ends things not with a bang but with a slow-burner that melts time. A repetitive, mantra riff rides out into eternity, smearing space and thought into some kind of post-reality drift. It’s a closer that’s more ceremony than song—a reminder that, yeah, this band isn’t just here to entertain you. They’re here to unplug your conditioning… In conclusion, “Remove The Ties” isn’t trying to be cool or nostalgic. It’s not here to hold your hand or explain itself. Vibravoid never cared about trends, and thank the freak gods for that. This one’s not for the playlist crowd. It’s for the heads, the late-night headphone trippers, the folks reading old Amon Düül interviews. “Remove The Ties” doesn’t just stand up—it levitates. It’s Mind Melting Düsseldorf Ritual Post-Kraut Acid Pop Music!!!  Just drop the needle and float, Vibravoid is in the house and will take care of you… TimeLord Michalis

ps For the past five years or so, Vibravoid have been subtly reshaping their brand of Psychedelic Acid Rock—refining the sound, smoothing out the rough edges, and polishing the production to appeal more easily to unprepared or casual listeners, or maybe even throwing a bone to the uninitiated. This sonic “clean-up” has occasionally drifted into Poppier or more accessible territory, which might fool some into thinking that the Psychedelic spirit has faded away… But let’s set the record straight: Psychedelia was never gone. The core is still there, pulsing beneath the surface. It’s been here all along—and it’s not going anywhere… Just waiting for you to tune in deeper. Vibravoid rules.
