DURY DAVA – ΔΕΠΥ (2025, LP, Inner Ear Records)

RELEASE INFO:
Label: Inner Ear Records
Format: LP, Album, Limited Edition
Release Date: 7 Nov 2025
In a scene where most bands chase polish and predictability, Dury Dava return to remind us what unvarnished exploration actually sounds like. “ΔΕΠΥ” – their third full-length offering – feels less like a studio artifact and more like a living organism that grew wild across borders, nights, and stages. Born from fragments scattered over years and fused into unity during their 2023 European tour, these nine tracks carry the sweat of live rooms, the disorientation of transit, and the spark that hits only when a band is fully locked into its own myth.
True to their ethos since 2016, Dury Dava keep threading together the grit of ’60s psychedelia, the motorik ghosts of ’70s krautrock, and those crooked Greco-Turkish rhythms that twist the floor under your feet, always with that punk-tinted disregard for comfort. Recorded live and refined only enough to keep the edges sharp, “ΔΕΠΥ” radiates honesty, intensity, and the kind of playful danger that makes psych music worth following into the dark. It’s not an album that asks for your attention; it hijacks it…

Here’s a closer look/listen to all 9 tracks of “ΔΕΠΥ”:
“Ο Πίπης (Φτάνει Πια)” (3:36)
The album opens in a loosely tribal, almost jungle-like haze, with the band weaving a strange funky-psych pattern that feels both playful and slightly deranged. Avant-garde tendencies creep in, while the spoken Greek lyrics ground the madness in Dury Dava’s signature street-level surrealism.
“Σκατζοχοιράδα” (6:50)
An up-tempo jolt of neo-kraut propulsion, this track sprints forward like a breakless roller coaster. The rhythm section chases its own tail in glorious frenzy, the guitars spark off the rails, and the nonsensical Greek lyrics only amplify the delirium. Futuristic, experimental, fast, and merciless—try to keep up and your brain might eject.
“Τα Δάχτυλα Των Ποδιών” (4:02)
Slower but no less bizarre, this one sinks into a mystical, shadow-psychedelic fog. A darkened landscape unfolds—otherworldly yet strangely intimate—extending the album’s surreal topography into more atmospheric territory.
“Άλλο Γι’ Άλλο” (8:18)
Pure mid-’70s kosmische worship, elevated through Dury Dava’s instinct for chaos. A steady motorik pulse carries shimmering experimental guitar and unruly basslines across space, turning the track into a full-blown neo-kraut psychic voyage. The Greek lyrics make no sense—and that’s absolutely the point.
“Λέσι” (6:43)
A rhythmic pandemonium: punk energy colliding with kraut guitars, wild percussion, and the sharp bite of the zurna (Ζουρνάς). It’s a punk-a-delic uproar, a swirling hodgepodge of manic textures that ignites the album’s wildest instincts.
“Ο Τρύπιος Κουβάς” (3:25)
The mood shifts sharply into slow, eerie territory. Dark psychedelic tones dominate, with a cinematic atmosphere that feels like a hallucination filmed in dim light—unsettling, spacious, and quietly hypnotic.
“Μπανάνα” (2:32)
A short burst of avant-garde oddity: eerie, experimental, full of fragmented sound. It leans toward a Zappa-esque sense of absurdity, a miniature vignette of deliberate sonic strangeness.
“Ζούπα Κι Άλλο” (4:23)
Back to the trademark Dury Dava frenzy-hyperactive keys, disoriented guitar, and a driving pulse that edges into psych-trance territory. A psychoneurotic dance into chaos, both irresistible and unhinged.
“Τρίτη Μορφή” (4:03)
An instrumental explosion of frantic, guitar-driven energy. Jam-like, hysterical, avant-garde in spirit, it closes the record in a swirl of chaotic experimentation that feels like the final transformation hinted at in its title.
In conclusion, “ΔΕΠΥ” is an album that doesn’t simply end, it spits you back out, slightly rattled, slightly altered, wondering what kind of psychic detour you’ve just survived. Dury Dava stretch their mutant Psych further than ever, stitching kraut, punk, tradition, and sheer delirium into a single restless organism. Across nine tracks, they twist the familiar into new shapes, bend rhythm until it frays… By the time the final chaotic pulse of “Τρίτη Μορφή” fades, you’re not sure whether you’ve been on a trip, a chase, or a ritual. But one thing’s certain: Dury Dava remain one of the few bands willing to risk total derailment in pursuit of something real. And with “ΔΕΠΥ”, derailment never sounded so alive! One of the Best “International” albums of 2025… Dig it! TimeLord Michalis
