Well, almost 4 months since last December, and what’s more natural than this: A new Vibravoid album! I really liked the “cosmetic adjectives” that I used in my last Vibravoid review, so I will use them again and I will start by saying:

The true Ambassadors of MPR (Modern Psychedelic Rock), the band that put back on the musical map the city of Dusseldorf, the unstoppable Psych-Production Machine, the Ministers of Worldwide Psychedelia, the VIBRAVOID, are back once more to stir the muddy waters of Psych Music, putting “POPsike” in the Psych-Game again, after 50 or so, years! …

Vibravoid’s new adventure in the PSYCHEDELIC ROCK OP-POP  music world is called “Edge Of Tomorrow” and is scheduled for release, this coming May…

“Edge Of Tomorrow” consists of 9 Vibravoid original compositions, 5 on the first side and 4 on the second. The album takes off with “Over The Edge”, an upbeat tune with a cool tempo, this is a nice and melodic song of the Modern Ages – of course, Christian insists on calling his music Op Art Rock and I will not argue with that – there’s a West Coast trippy n’ wandering guitar sound filled (of course) with all necessary psychedelic ‘sound effects’… “The Other Side Of Love” that follows, introduces us to some Song Magnificence, it’s the Art of making a Modern Psychedelic Pop nugget! It’s really unbelievable how Vibravoid (Christian) can make a song sound so poppy (or radio-friendly) and at the same time so incredibly fuzzy! That’s a killer combination! “Edge Of Tomorrow” shows a nostalgic feel, full of psychedelic energy and quite interesting lyrics while the sound is kind of futuristic emerging a Space-a-Delic vibration! “The World I Once Knew” is a laid-back tune, some kind of a distorted-fuzz-a-delic balladesque song, kind of nostalgic and sad… “Living On The Edge” with its catchy guitar melody, has a tremendous Dark 80s atmosphere, Gothic-like at times but without losing its Psychedelic background, emerging a paranormal and strange ‘Sisters Of Mercy’ affect (or maybe a Velvet Underground one if you think deep and open-minded)… Side ‘B’ opens with the phantasmagorical “Lost And Busted”, a tune “buried” into a huge Psych-a-delic wall of fuzzy sound! The much faster “Dead By Dawn” follows, there’s an incredible fuzzy punk-a-delic guitar sound that creates a unique Pop-Acid atmosphere – it’s one of the most Garage-y Vibravoid tracks – while “Shifting The Sands” is another Modern-Aged Psychedelic Pop tune with that Vibravoid trademark sound, sharp and fuzzy! The album comes to an end with the mid-tempo “Into The Void”, a track filled with numerous Psychedelic effects, becoming psychedelically weird towards its end, a track with a huge experimental edge…

In conclusion… Most of the so-called “new psych” bands, first of all, are not Psychedelic at all and secondly, they keep on consuming themselves by dressing their “shit” with metal riffs and boring jams… On the other hand, Vibravoid picks the “hard” path… Melody and (up-to-date) lyrics… And of course, “Psychedelia” runs into Christian’s veins, so it’s no problem for him to create “magnificent albums” with such frequency… This is called Psychedelic Velocity and that’s why Vibravoid is able to deliver in a such short time another “Guaranteed” album, full of quality and fidelity! In other words, “Edge Of Tomorrow” is a Modern Age Fuzzy Vibrated Op Art Pop-a-Delic Masterpiece! TimeLord Michalis
